I am a native New Orleanian and have lived here my entire life except for four years I spent away due to school. In those four years, I continued to live in the south and came to really appreciate how special and unique New Orleans was. I couldn’t wait to get back and have been back for over a decade now. Since returning, I have learned to cook, bake, sew and knit, have fallen in love and married the darling Captain Sarcastic, have advanced nicely in my legal career, and most recently have become a mother to my daughter, Sun.

True New Orleanians never leave New Orleans. Thus, it is not unusual that all but one of my close relatives live within an hour of the New Orleans area–and several of us live within 10 minutes of each other.

Post-Katrina, Captain Sarcastic and I bought a small business that he manages, and we re-solidified our ties to the city. We spend our free time drinking in all the city has to offer as we work on wrapping our heads around the reality that is new parenthood.
