My dreams escape me as soon as I wake up. Try as I may I can not recall them–but I know I had them.

Maybe the serial killer represents a part of yourself that you consider dangerous and want to lock up. The fact that by the second dream you were aware that you wouldn’t be killed could mean that you are beginning to realise that you need to face that part of your personality and integrate it with the rest of your personality and it’s not that bad after all.

By the way, dreaming while being aware that you are dreaming and having control over what is going to happen in the dream or knowing what is going to happen (you can’t be killed) is lucid dreaming.
