Enough Already
Apr 24th, 2008 by Nola
I am slowly coming around to feeling completely like myself. But my irritability is still high, a sure sign I am not myself. Here’s two examples.
The cat. Peanut has been using our bathroom floor as, well, toilet paper. Don’t know why. Just know that I walk in to the bathroom to brush my teeth and there’s this nice long smear. Oh, the expletives. CS tells me that she’s obviously needing to go to the vet because something must be wrong. That is certainly logical and the answer that gives Peanut the benefit of the doubt. I, on the other hand, think nothing logical. I want to kick her in her smearing ass and throw her outside. Twice in two days this has happened. I will call the vet to try to get an appointment tomorrow. In the meantime, it is best if Peanut avoids me at all costs.
My blog. I have nothing to say these days. I was feeling very positive about finding my voice here and enjoying what I wrote. But lately, I feel uninspired, that my writing is flat and my topics are tired. A friend installed a new feature for me to look at my blog stats differently. So now I have been paying way too much attention to those numbers. And it just annoys me because I honestly don’t blog for the comments I get or the number of visits I get. But. There I am looking at the stats three different ways now. (Why do all three show different numbers for the same thing?? So confusing. Don’t answer! It will only feed this negative energy!)
Ah.
So if I am not posting here often, it’s a public service of not putting dull posts out there. A public service, that is, to the ten of you that read my blog. And to you ten, thanks. I do appreciate the readership.

I’m sorry that you’re not feeling like yourself.
I completely understand the lack of creative ideas. I’m not sure I’ve (intentionally) said anything funny or interesting in weeks. April is just a bad blogging month, I’ve decided.
And if it makes you feel better, your review of Angelo Brocato’s was great. We’ll have fun tomorrow over toe painting.
Katie’s last blog post..I swear, totally lucid now. Really.
At least you can, perhaps, escape for a day or two of Jazz Fest this weekend! Maybe that will be just what you need?
Sometimes April takes a toll on me - hot weather on the way, no holidays to look forward to…It can be a bit of a buzzkill.
I think every blogger goes through this. My advise, stop looking at stats. they will drive you crazy.
Christy’s last blog post..Hark! Is that knitting I see?
Apparently I’m the only one that’s a huge fan of April, but maybe it’s because it’s spring and I hate winter for every fiber of my being.
You really should take a few days off! And have an snow ball. Hope you feel better soon!
Jane Moneypenny’s last blog post..Hello, Sadness.
At least it was in the appropriate room.
SoMo’s last blog post..Sorry, All Full!
April has been kinda slow…all I have been talking about is Jazz Fest and people have to be tired of that. However, it will keep on going for a few more days.
I am glad the funk seems to be lifting. I hope the kitty cat is okay!!
Nola - write what you love.
Forget about daily posting, write what you love, when you feel it.
Readers KNOW when you are just going throw the motions.
Write what you love and are passionate about and people will appreciate it more and keep coming back.
Good Luck!

So sorry Nola. I hope things start to take a turn for you soon. I hate feeling this way too. It happens every now and then, and it’s such a hard place to dig yourself out of.
The butt smearing thing (I thinks it’s called “scooting”), my dog does that too sometimes. I think the vet does something quick to their glands to take care of it.
Oh, and lastly, STATS ARE EVIL! I share the irrational addiction….
Sandy (Momisodes)’s last blog post..Suggestions and Toilet Scrubber Wanted
oh man…..nothing it worse than an animal smearing poop anywhere in your house. ugh….I do hope it stops soon. I’d be rathered irratable about it as well.
as for the blog thing….I have been there. I am there. there was a time that I got so caught up in the stats, and I lost the love. I haven’t looked at my stats in 3 weeks. I feel better.
I hope you find the love again. take care of YOU!
Corey’s last blog post..Why Would Anyone EVER Want To Read My Blog?
There is never a dull moment over here. Sorry you are in a funk… here hoping you find your way out soon.
Tara R.’s last blog post..Meet the family
I like the blog, new subscriber here.
Sandy’s right about the cat. ‘anal glands’ are no fun. To the vet with the cat!
My best advice: get over the numbers. I have conflicting numbers depending on where I check and if, like today, I get smaller numbers I don’t want to get all angsty. First of all, I write for me first. I consider the people who read but mostly for me. I have learned to let my blog go a day or two if I have nothing worth reading.
Gee, this makes me glad I’m allergic to cats. (wink)
JaniceNW’s last blog post..Thirteen Great Places to Visit
As a vet, I can say a visit is in order. It can probably be fixed pre tty easily….(I won’t go into the possible details here). And, as Corey said it’s in the right room and not on the oriental rug in the parlor…
I look at numbers but mine are always so pathetic, it’s really a pointless venture. I do know that I have a core group that reads everything I write and supports me through it and I write for them, even if it is only once a week.
And if you stepped back and wrote once a week, or once a month, I would still visit. And enjoy.
Been there . . . I’ve only been blogging for 6 months and I have those moments. ALL THE TIME. I actually enjoy commenting better than posting. The only pain is that I NEVER want people to feel obligated to visit after I comment . . .
I’m thinking of destroying my stats button. Why the heck do I need it anyway (like I really need another obsession!).
LaskiGal’s last blog post..Top Momma and AWARDS!
1) I’ve never read a boring post on your blog—I don’t think it’s possible for you to be boring. And I really do mean that.
2) If it makes you feel any better, I DID toss WonderDog outside yesterday. Then I called my husband and told him it was her or me. Then I told him I didn’t care if she ran away. Sadly, I’m not kidding, I really did tell him those things. To make it worse, if I knew he would have come home from work, I would have asked him to just so I could pitch a bigger fit. Yep, I’m as mature as they come.
3) I think everyone goes through the blog blahs (in addition to the general blahs!). I’m glad YOU are feeling better, but if your blogging isn’t take a break. We’ll miss you, but we’ll all understand.
4) Have a GREAT weekend!
Lanny’s last blog post..An Extra Day In The Life….
OK, “write what you love, when you feel it” sounds like sound advice, but don’t disappear. It may seem like boring stuff to you, but for those of us living farfar away, it’s all rather fun and exotic.
lilalia’s last blog post..Sharing Your Stories
I’ve found that the more blogs I comment on, the more people come and read mine and comment on it. I don’t have big numbers, but have made some good blogfriends and we all read and comment on one anothers’ blogs regularly. My friend Charles Gramlich has built up a good-size readership on his blog, partly because he’s so conscientious about reading the blogs of his commenters and leaving comments on them. Of course, he also has good blog posts (especially for those interested in writing/reading and the heroic fantasy and horror genres). He’s at http://charlesgramlich.blogspot.com/.
