Thoughts of JazzFest Already?
Jan 24th, 2008 by Nola
Before we can even get through Mardi Gras, the Times-Picayune is reporting the lineup for the 2008 Jazzfest, and, man, is it chuck full of good performers. There’s to be Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, Sheryl Crow, Billy Joel, Al Green, Elvis Costello, Randy Newman, Kermit Ruffins, Widespread Panic, Ellis Marsalis, Cowboy Mouth, Dr. John, the Imagination Movers, Irma Thomas, Jeremy Davenport, Trombone Shorty, Stevie Wonder, Bonerama, the subdudes, The Dixie Cups, the Radiators and OH SO MANY MORE!!!
If only I liked JazzFest. Even so, I am really excited for those that do that the lineup is so awesome!
Stumble it!

A) I’m going to do the Meme tomorrow. Or maybe tonight, depending upon my level of boredom/procrastination.
B) I LOVE Jazz Fest. Except for the fact that it’s 800,000 degrees, there are 900,000 people and no shade except the gospel tent. If they could hold it indoors in February, I’d spend virtually every waking moment there.
C) I had a King Cake from some place that starts with an R. It’s off of Severn and I’m told it’s one of the biggies as far as King Cakes go. It was excellent, though perhaps a little moist for my tastes. I also got Zulu cake, which is like the awesomest twist on King Cake I’ve ever seen.
Oh so jealous! I’d give anything to go
the line up sounds pretty sweet…
Katie, that’s gotta be Randazzo’s. Good stuff.
The biggest problem is gonna be when they are scheduling the headliners. Billy Joel regularly sold out arenas as recently as the year 2000 (I saw him at the N.O. Arena; I’m glad I got the tickets!). I don’t know what the hell the Fest gatekeepers are gonna do to try to control those kinds of crowds. This is a situation in which the hot weather might actually help…
Agree. The line up is awesome.
I love Jazz Fest. I am more interested in the local bands, I will check out the bigger names, from the safety of the back of the massive crowds. As long as I have my crawfish bread and a beer I will be fine.
