This was happening to my son in his crib and someone suggested they looked more like spider bites and that babies skin reacts to them like a mosquito. Well, lo and behold, I started paying attention and started seeing these teeny tiny spiders in his room. Called an exterminator and GONE! No more bites. Spiders are bad right now . . .
