We run into similar ridiculous over-the-barrel stuff here in Seattle all the time, but I guess it's just a supply & demand thing. Just yesterday we got a quote to prep the outside of our house for paint. Not paint, just prep. $35,000, not including materials. !!! Who can afford that? How frustrating!
